I started to learn Autodesk: Revit later on in 2015.
It was a 2D only course however I quickly learnt about the ‘ViewCube’ and how it navigates in a 3D world.
With a little help from YouTube.
Very soon all my work was in 3D although the course did not require it or recognise it in marking.
I was Extruding walls up out of the ground and press/pulling windows and door ope’s where they were needed.
I went on to draw/design a house in full 3D. This was not course work at all this was how passionate I became using AutoCAD.
If I didn’t know a measurement I would grab my measuring tape and measure i.e. the door opening here at home OR look it up online.
I drew the first floor and ceiling joist layout and the whole roof rafters. 400mm centres if I remember correctly.
I even drew the stairs, in 3D. Extruding each step, making sure the distance between threads matched and they all followed the pitch line. I even started to make Furniture.
A 3D bed and even a 3D chest of drawers.
This was all just out of interest in a software I learnt to absolutely love.
A passionate Technologist is a win win for Employer and Employee.
